The nexus between attitude towards technological change and an academic self-concept with the mediation of students’ creativity: reexamining Kurt Lewin Model in Higher Education Institutes (HEIS), Sindh Province, Pakistan

Abstract/Description

Purpose: The fast-paced growth of Information Technology is exerting a force in the Higher Education System to upgrade and get changed. Furthermore, with the shrinking labor market due to skyrocketing inflation and on the other hand employer’s obsession with intellectual talent and skills in graduates and post-graduates, there seems a demand for competent and high academic performers from public or private sector HEIs.

Design/Methodology/Approach: In the present study, quantitative research methodology is being utilized and data was gathered with the sample size of 798 students from 6 public and 6 private sector HEIs of Sindh Province. The study proposed 4 hypotheses involving direct and indirect relationships between variables which are being developed based on Kurt Lewin Model.

Findings: The findings of the research revealed that attitude towards Technological Change has a positive and significant impact on Academic Self Concept with the mediation of students’ creativity.

Originality Value: The relationship among the variables used in the present study model, particularly for the Higher Education Institutes of Sindh province has rarely been studied previously, which directs the uniqueness of research questions based on the theoretical framework of Kurt Lewin Model. Furthermore, the citations and references of recent years have been added to the present study.

Practical and Social Implication: Following the HEC Vision 2025, the present study reveals the findings that the initiation of technological facilities in the learning environment by the leaders and managers of HEIs possesses a huge and significant impact on the academic self-concept of students. Students are the key stakeholders of any HEIs, thus their performance, level of satisfaction, multidimensional learning, and confidence pose an inordinate impact on the competitive market which ultimately becomes the reason for the educational institution's status-building.
