Abstract/Description

Purpose:

The goal of this research is to investigate the significance of organizational (OC) with mediating effect of workplace ostracism (WO) and workplace incivility (WI) on innovative behavior (IWB).

Design/methodology/approach:

130 IT professionals participated in the survey. They were chosen through the use of a convenience sampling technique. The associations between OC, WO, WI, and IWB were measured using a quantitative research design by applying structural equation modeling with the method of partial least squares as a foundation (PLS-SEM).

Findings:

The paper finds that OC has a significant impact on IWB. Similarly, OC with WO and WI has a meaningful effect. Moreover, there is also a substantial relationship between WO and WI with IWB. Finally, the first indirect effect of OC, WO, and IWB was observed, which was significant and had a relationship with each other. The second indirect effect is OC, WI, and IWB, which are substantial and highly impacted by each other.

Implications:

The study offers empirical evidence of the relevance of employees' Innovative work behavior. Still, it also has implications for human resource personnel who run organizational Culture by assessing the environment to ensure that suitable leading strategies must be implemented to remove ostracism and incivility from the Culture. To support the growth of individuals and organizations, innovate the learning environment in the organization, and eventually increase employee job satisfaction via proper skill development, ultimately motivating them to stay long and creative in the organization.

Originality/value:

As far as the author knows, this is the first-ever study in Pakistan that explored organizational Culture's relation to workplace ostracism and workplace incivility as mediators among different IT professionals. This project is the first to undergo a detailed analysis to provide evidence of the causal impact of Culture, ostracism, and incivility on direct productivity measures, which leads to employee creativity.
