چیف الیکشن کمشنر نے آئی بی اے کراچی کے ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر اکبر زیدی کی مدت ملازمت میں تین ماہ کی توسیع کی منظوری دیدی ہے ڈاکٹر اکبر زیدی کی پہلی چار سالہ مدت 12 جنوری کو ختم ہورہی تھی۔ یاد رہے کہ چیف الیکشن کمشنر نے آئی بی اے کراچی کے ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر اکبر زیدی کی دوسری چار سالہ مدت کی مخالفت کی تھی جس پر معاملہ عدالت چلا گیا تھا-

آئی بی اے مین کیمپس میں جعفر فیملی آف نیویارک ڈیٹا سائنسز سینٹر کیلئے سنگ بنیاد کی تقریب کا انعقاد کیا گیا۔سینٹر کی تعمیر 2024کے اوائل میں شروع ہونے والی ہے، جس کی تکمیل 2026میں متوقع ہے۔ ایک بار آپریشنل ہونے کے بعد، یہ IBA کراچی کے طلباء کو سیکھنے، تحقیق اور اختراع کے لئے مثالی ماحول فراہم کرے گا۔

CM Murad advises graduates to lead with empathy, integrity, social responsibility

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Patron of IBA Karachi, presided over the convocation for the Class of 2024, celebrating the graduates' achievements and resilience. He highlighted IBA's upcoming 70th anniversary, marking seven decades of excellence in education and leadership. The CM emphasized the institute's academic rigor, with 67% of its faculty holding PhDs, and its focus on preparing graduates for advancements in AI, data science, and digital transformation.
Shah recognized IBA's alumni network of over 18,000 as role models for graduates and urged them to lead with empathy, integrity, and social responsibility. He called on graduates to use their knowledge to create positive change and contribute to Pakistan's development. The event also set the stage for IBA’s 70th-anniversary celebrations, reflecting on its lasting impact on education and leadership.

IBA Karachi awards 1,353 degrees at its convocation

IBA Karachi's Class of 2024 convocation awarded 1,353 degrees, including 990 undergraduates, 362 postgraduates, and 1 PhD. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah commended IBA's 70-year legacy of leadership and excellence. Executive Director Dr. Akbar Zaidi celebrated this milestone as the largest graduating class. Ms. Sultana Siddiqui inspired graduates to pursue dreams with integrity. Medals, shields, and certificates were presented to position holders, including a sports award for Syeda Manahil Hussain.

Sharjeel rejects opposition’s allegations regarding appointments in universities

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon refuted opposition allegations regarding university appointments, emphasizing that universities independently fill vacancies following established formalities. He highlighted the Sindh government’s efforts to introduce transparency and merit-based recruitment policies, including strict measures for MDCAT admissions. The exams are supervised by IBA Karachi and Sukkur, ensuring impartiality and standardization.
The minister also announced a plan to construct over two million houses for Sindh’s flood-affected residents and noted progress on mega projects such as the Malir Expressway and Link Road in Karachi. Additionally, he discussed the IT training initiative for 10,000 Sindhi youth through NED University and IBA Sukkur to enhance employment opportunities. Sharjeel Memon criticized PTI's actions, accusing the party of tarnishing Pakistan’s reputation through disruptive activities and international lobbying.

Govt pays Rs170b subsidy to ensure uniform electricity tariff in Karachi: Minister

Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari announced that the government is providing a Rs170 billion subsidy to ensure uniform electricity tariffs in Karachi, aligning prices with other regions of Pakistan. Speaking at the "Power Reforms Roundtable" at IBA Karachi, he mentioned plans for a forensic audit of Independent Power Producers (IPPs), contingent on necessity. The minister aims to achieve a reduction in electricity costs to Rs10-12 per unit within a year and a half by implementing various reforms. He acknowledged Punjab's government for its electricity bill subsidy for August and September, stating that any renewal would be a provincial decision. Emphasizing the need for better efficiency in power regulatory bodies, he revealed plans to privatize seven out of ten power distribution entities soon and hinted at upcoming Electric Vehicle Regulations. He noted that higher-income groups benefit from solar net metering and expressed pride in Pakistan's position as a leading clean energy producer in the region.
