Akbar Zaidi highlighted the need to revamp academic curricula to address the dynamic field of entrepreneurship. Trainers Dr. Sanna Ilonen, Joachim Ramstrom, and Islam Mohamed led two workshops during the four-day event. IBA-CED Director Dr. Lalarukh Ejaz emphasized the importance of such workshops for knowledge exchange and structured discourse, fostering collaboration between universities and incubators.

Scholarship programme digitised to facilitate deserving students

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation (KPEF) has digitized its scholarship process to enhance transparency and efficiency, eliminating manual procedures and delays. The new auto-generated quantification system automatically generates merit lists based on academic marks, financial need, and the study of emerging sciences. KPEF has signed MoUs with 20 universities, including LUMS, IBA, and Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, to streamline the application process. Despite limited funding, KPEF has committed to supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including orphans, physically challenged individuals, and those registered with Zakat, EHSAS, and BISP. The Foundation seeks additional funding from government, donors, and the private sector to expand support, particularly for PhD students.

'Islamic finance critical to fixing global challenges'

He emphasized the industry's projected growth to $5.6 trillion by 2027, rooted in Sharia principles like profit-sharing, interest prohibition, and social responsibility through Zakat and Waqf. Islamic finance’s relevance to environmental issues was noted, with green sukuk issuance surpassing $20 billion in 2023, funding renewable energy and green infrastructure. Speaking at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), he praised its 60% growth in 2024 and stressed four pillars for national development: peace, stability, consistent policies, and reforms. He also announced the National Economic Transformation Plan, focusing on export-led growth and "Made in Pakistan" branding.

Over 1,350 graduates awarded degrees at IBA convocation

وزیراعلیٰ جسٹس باقر کا اعلیٰ ثانوی بورڈ کے طلباء کو 15فیصد اضافی نمبرزدینے کی ہدایت،وزیراعلیٰ نے آئی ٹی کے سربراہ محمد شہیر وقار کو فوری طور پر عہدے سے ہٹانے کا حکم بھی دے دیا ،تفصیلات کے مطابق نگراں وزیراعلیٰ سندھ جسٹس (ر) مقبول باقر نے فیکٹ فائنڈنگ انکوائری کمیٹی کی سفارشات پرپری میڈیکل، پری انجینئرنگ اور جنرل سائنس فیکلٹیز کے اعلیٰ ثانوی بورڈ۔اول کے طلباء کو 15 فیصد اضافی نمبر دینے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔ وزیراعلیٰ نے این ای ڈی یونیورسٹی کے وائس چانسلر ڈاکٹر سروش لودھی (کنوینر)، ایگزیکٹو ڈائریکٹر آئی بی اے کراچی ڈاکٹر اکبر زیدی اور سیکریٹری سندھ ایچ ای سی معین الدین صدیقی (ممبران) پر مشتمل تین رکنی فیکٹ فائنڈنگ کمیٹی تشکیل دی تھی تاکہ بورڈ آف انٹرمیڈیٹ ایجوکیشن کراچی کے گیارویں جماعت کے نتائج 2023 کے طلباء کے پاس ہونے کے پاسنگ پرسنٹیچ میں اچانک کمی سے متعلق انکوائری کی جاسکے۔

آئی بی اے کے زیر اہتمام کراچی کے مقامی ہوٹل میں ایکسیلنس ایوارڈز کی تقریب منعقد ہوئی، جس میں مختلف شعبہ جات سے تعلق رکھنے والی 9 شخصیات کو ایوارڈز دیے گئے۔ جیونیوز کے پروگرام "ہنسنا منع ہے" کے میزبان تابش ہاشمی کو بھی ایوارڈ سے نوازا گیا۔ تقریب میں خطاب کرتے ہوئے تابش ہاشمی نے اپنی خوشی کا اظہار کیا اور یہ ایوارڈ اپنے والد کے نام کیا، جن کی خواہش تھی کہ وہ آئی بی اے سے تعلیم حاصل کریں۔
