Abstract

This research draws a distinction from previous research by defining a relatively novel aim of the study to explore the evolution of literature in the fields of sustainability and resilience as a combined phenomenon. This is one of the first studies to build a connection between supply chain resilience and sustainability and produces a conjugated theoretical framework to explicate the nexus and interoperability. It uses a systematic literature review methodology based on PRISMA involving the usual data search, screening, extraction, and synthesis of information. The paper boasts several contributions to existing literature including but not limited to i) the identification of congruent competencies that can be used to design supply chain integration across both sustainability and resilience domains, and; ii) dispensing of a holistic picture to managers by equipping them with the understanding of how to exercise systemic decision-making, and; iii) building a progressive taxonomy to explicate steps towards sustainably resilient infrastructure by different firms.
