Abstract / Summary
This project report on impact investment in primary healthcare sector - encompasses the following phases: Phase 1: Scope of work/Secondary research The first step was the "Terms of reference" sign of between the group and the client. This was followed by secondary research on regional healthcare indicators where Pakistan's healthcare performance was compared with that of its regional neighbors. This was followed by finding literature on the existing primary healthcare situation in Karachi where research on both private and government sector was covered. Phase 2: Primary Research Findings In this phase, interviews were done with stakeholders in healthcare sector including government officials, hospital administrators and NGOs. This was followed by conducting 4 focus groups whee participants representative of the middle class (Earning where Rs.20,000 to Rs. 100,000) were invited. Phase 3: Analysis and Key Findings After collection of data from phase 1 and 2, we used the porter's framework to analyze the healthcare industry and understand the bargaining power of partners and potential challenges for Aman clinics. Phase 4: Development of a commercially viable business model In this phase, a commercially viable business model was prepared for Aman foundation. Additionally, financial, marketing and operational recommendations were also made. Layout of a typical clinic was also formulated.
