Abstract / Summary
This project aims to study the market in Pakistan and develop a data driven commercial and financial feasibility for CSS campuses in Karachi. This report entails the current status of the various deliverables along with the information and data gathered until submission. Research has been conducted in three stages: Stage 1 included a review of literature on the subject of the country's economy and schooling system. This also included studying the rules and regulations imposed by government authorities. Finally it entails an analysis of current school systems and competition. Stage 2 was a series of visits to the most prominent schools in Karachi. The visits were conducted to study the system of education and curriculum development running in these schools. Various aspects of the schools administration such as Location, Examination Board, Parent relations and Human resource management were covered in the discussions held at the schools. Stage 3 involved in-Depth Interviews of Experts and Parents regarding the functioning of schools and school Policy. Information regarding the issues of construction and allotments of schools was acquired from Mr. Najmul Islam, Resident Engineer at Halcrow Corporation. Ms. Mehreen Nazar, Professor of Law at the Institute of Business Administration, provided information regarding the legal aspects and hurdles that are involved in the initiation of a new school project. Finally; a broad array of parents, with kids recently enrolled in schools, was interviewed regarding their opinions on schools, motivations behind choice of school and the requirements for their children's education. The final report of the project with include the recommendations extracted from the above sources. This will be in the form of a business plan guiding the clients in a step by step approach to institutes CSS schools in Karachi.
