Abstract / Summary

The purpose of this report was to assess and identify the driver and barriers to supply chain collaboration across Jaffer Group. The research aims to provide valuable recommendations to address these barriers to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the supply chain operations as the system was decentralized and problems started to emerge after the centralization in the supply chain department. For the same purpose secondary research was conducted and in primary research quantitative and qualitative methods were adopted. Questionnaires were prepared from research papers for the interview and for the closed-ended questionnaire too. And the sample size was the supply chain department of the Jaffer Group. During our study different barrier and drivers were identified such as line of reporting has changed, increased responsibilities on existing Supply Chain employees, delayed response from finance department, job description of employees has changed, alignment of responsibilities is unclear, issues like dead inventory is now being highlighted and points of lack of efficiency is now being highlighted, post-centralization. Recommendations were provided for the same such as a clear definition of the new reporting structure, updated job descriptions, complaints of inefficiency should be thoroughly investigated, optimum inventory levels and slow moving or obsolete items should be identified and communication forums such as cross functional workshops, updates on projects, team meetings, etc., should occur frequently to encourage information exchange and improve collaboration.
