Abstract
Cotton is truly the silver fiber of Pakistani industrial fabric. More than fifty percent of our workforce is employed, directly or indirectly, in textile manufacturing. Cotton and cotton textile are the top ranked foreign exchange earners. Even during the current recessionary period, cotton and cotton textiles produced $9.8 billion dollars of foreign exchange for Pakistan. Table I gives a three year history of foreign exchange earned by the various cotton textile sectors for Pakistan
