Abstract
Digital platforms have continued to evolve over the past couple of years and that’s a strong basis for competitive advantage, companies across various industries more willing to adopt platform approaches to minimize complexity and to better leverage funding for the building of new products with PaaS - platform-as-a-service, and IaaS - infrastructure-as-a-service, the value they once derived from offering different products may be significantly better if they transform to platform-based businesses. I believe that this transformation is not based on operations but may address the nature of how businesses perceive themselves, bringing corporate identity into question. Businesses that have claim themselves as innovative, in the platform context they may have troubles accepting others to engage in their creative activities. To succeed, we propose that organizations must ensure elements of their current identity by actively transforming along with market trends, to become consistent in the enhancement of your business economy. This survey shows, adoption of platform-based offerings may have huge financial results and to encounter comparable risks, now the companies moving to platform strategies and risk revenue streams by moving on the way to new digital offerings, and they have motives to shift into platform thinking because they have seen positive financial results. In this paper we show that the companies are studying a homogeneous paradigm of platform-based products, analyzing their motives for moving to platform-driven development and see how they extract their benefits. Products generates a single revenue stream whereas platform can be the source for different business models and that is the valuable during product to platform transition. Hybrids in general can be especially useful for transitioning, because hybrid business model enable new opportunities and resize revenue streams to optimize for net value creation and capture instead of targeting one product or the platform.
