Abstract

Sentiment analysis and opinion running is the field of study that analyses people's opinions, sentiments, evaluations, attitudes, and emotions from written language. Since social media has been growing rapidly, this field is becoming one of the most active research areas in natural language processing. SA utilizes natural language processing techniques to extract people's opinion from textual excerpts. Recent trends on internet are encouraging users to contribute their opinions and suggestions creating a huge collection of valuable information in the web. The Opinion mining system analyse each text and determine whether it is positive or negative or neutral. Applications of sentiment analysis and opinion mining include user reviews for products, restaurants, books, movies etc, recommendation systems, decision making, analysing public opinion regarding political candidates and many more. The focus of this survey is to review different sentiment analysis and opinion mining techniques employed to analyse political tweets in recent years. This survey report describes how Twitter is being used in political domain, how the data is collected, cleansed, pre-processed, analysed and classified, therefore it can be a valuable guide for academic and industry research work in this domain.
