SBS Thought Leadership Areas
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
SBS Thought Leadership Area Justification
This project aligns with the Entrepreneurship and Innovation thought leadership defined by the IBA School of Business Studies. The project develops detailed market intelligence, buyer 3 profiling, and engagement strategies that support Sequerra Global with market entry into the International Carbon Market. It demonstrates innovation by creating a data-driven approach to analyze the market. It further provides tools and strategic insights that help Sequerra Global in understanding buyer behavior, preferences, and purchasing patterns, which addresses the entrepreneurship part of the thought leadership.
Aligned SDGs
GOAL 13: Climate Action
Aligned SDGs Justification
This Experiential Learning Project aligns with multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It most directly contributes to the Climate Action SDG 13: “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact.” The report provides a detailed analysis on several carbon credit types, each represents verified Greenhouse Gas (GHG) removals or reductions. Chapter 1 helps in understanding how reduction and removal of GHG emissions occurs at scale. Chapters 2-5 of this report connect Pakistan-origin credits with international buyers. The chapters provide comprehensive buyer profiles, their preferences, and engagement strategies which will help facilitate climate project financing. The report further identifies Pakistan’s specific climate initiatives which address GHG emissions reduction and removals. These initiatives include the Delta Blue Carbon project in the Indus Delta and the Article 6.4-approved water filtration project in Punjab. The report ensures quality and verification of credits through Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) and registry standards like Verra and Gold Standard which provides alignment with SDG 13’s requirement of authentic climate action.

Abstract
This Experiential Learning Project (ELP) is in collaboration with Sequerra Global. It aims to develop a comprehensive understanding of the International Voluntary Carbon market (VCM) & a market entry strategy for Pakistan-origin credits. This report is divided into six chapters; each builds on the previous. The primary deliverables of this report include a structured & ranked buyer database, a buyer engagement & outreach strategy, a buyer intelligence report, & a market insights dashboard. Chapter 1 of the report develops the research & foundation for categorizing & profiling buyers as well as conducting market analysis for the next chapters. The research approach used in this chapter relies heavily on secondary data extracted from carbon registries, such as Verra & Gold Standard. The methodology section of this chapter categorizes each carbon type & their standards. Whereas the results section presents a detailed analysis on each carbon credit type. The key findings of Chapter 1 categorize each carbon credit category under distinct methodological frameworks verified by the carbon registries (e.g., Verra VM0047, REDD+ VM0033). These determine the credit integrity and market demand, as well as the quantification. Chapter 2 analyzes global VCM trends, develops buyer intelligence, maps average credit prices, demand patterns, buyer motivations & preferences, and registry standards. This chapter is heavily research-based and relies on secondary data obtained from carbon market databases such as Ecosystem Marketplace and AlliedOffsets. It concludes with 8 to 10 corporate case studies that provide an understanding of buyer motivations, trends, and behavior. Chapter 3 profiles a comprehensive buyer intelligence report consisting of 30 active buyers, carbon funds & exchanges, and brokers. These profiles include details like the region, sector, credit type, purchase volume, and registry preferences. The buyers are further divided into 3 tiers; high alignment, moderate alignment, and exploratory prospects. Chapter 4 uses the buyers profiled in the previous chapter and develops a weighted buyer scoring model. The criteria used to score these buyers includes alignment with Pakistan-origin credits, volume, and the willingness to purchase. As a result, this chapter concludes with a priority list of 15 buyers that fall at the top of the scoring criteria. xiii Chapter 5 creates an outreach strategy which includes email templates, linkedIn scripts, and meeting scripts. Chapter 6 consolidates all the previous chapters and provides a market insight dashboard which visualizes the trends along with a buyer database. Pakistan’s relevance to this project includes the ongoing carbon credit initiatives in the blue carbon & water categories. The Delta Blue Carbon project in the Indus Delta & the first Article 6.4 - approved water filtration project in Punjab are the two significant projects in Pakistan. Other carbon categories such as Afforestation, Reforestation, & Revegetation (ARR) also hold relevance in the country.
