The study examines the role of ORIC in research and commercialization in Pakistan from the perspective of academia. It identifies the challenges which academia faces when they want to commercialize their research through university ORIC and how the other two players of triple helix model contribute in facilitating the commercialization. A total of 10 interviews were conducted. Our sample consists of two groups: (i) Staff members of ORICs (ii) Faculty members who are actively involved in research and entrepreneurial activities within the university A semi structured interview was used to collect data from the ten respondents. The responses of the interviewed respondents were analyzed using thematic analysis. The study concludes that ORIC should works on promoting research culture in the universities, it should also focus on innovation in research and commercialize according to the market need. This could be done by providing policy guidelines to the research. Facilitating in IP commercialization and providing R&D opportunities. The study concludes that up till now the role of ORIC is not effective in its soul aim of its establishment in the universities. Our findings also suggest that player is triple helix model need to work on projects that will benefit them all, therefore it has been advised to setup a collaborative research agreement where various parties cooperate harmoniously and synergistically to avoid duplicating efforts.
