Abstract / Summary
The implementation of GS1 barcodes in pharmaceutical sector by 2022 has been made compulsory by DRAP. The Tier 1 companies were able to comply to this Ordinance as soon as it was announced. This was mainly due to their capacity to spare a large amount of capital on short notice.
However, the companies below Tier 1 require more time and affordable services to ensure compliance with DRAP. This was found out when interviews were conducted in the already implemented companies and service providers. The implementation manual developed in this project will facilitate and support the GS1 barcode implementation in any company of any sector.
The essence of the implementation and its procedures will remain the same as defined in the manual with only minor changes required in the application forms and project plans. A webinar was also hosted to spread awareness on this matter and to highlight how severe the problems such as counterfeiting and hoarding are in Pakistan.
The webinar was also used to market our product which is our manual and our knowledge base that will be used to implement GS1 barcode system in a company.
