Abstract / Summary

This capstone project focuses on the design and evaluation of a Tariff Literacy & Consumer Awareness Program aimed at improving consumers’ understanding of electricity tariffs, billing structures, and consumption-related charges. Electricity tariffs are often complex and technical, making it difficult for average consumers to interpret their bills, understand rate changes, or make informed decisions about electricity usage. This lack of clarity frequently results in confusion, mistrust, and dissatisfaction among consumers.

The project seeks to assess the current level of tariff literacy among consumers, identify key gaps in understanding, and develop a structured awareness framework that simplifies tariff-related information. The outcome of the project will be a practical, consumer-focused awareness model that can be used by utility companies and regulators to communicate tariff information more effectively. The study will combine insights from consumer behavior, communication strategy, and service delivery to propose actionable recommendations.

Objectives:

  1. Improve Consumer Understanding of Tariffs
  2. Enhance Decision-Making Regarding Electricity Usage
  3. Reduce Operational Pressure on Customer Service
  4. Increase Transparency and Trust
