Abstract / Summary
This research report is developed to analyze the opportunities in the pallet industry of Pakistan and to introduce corrugated paper pallets as alternative to the other material handling options used by the industries. For the past few decades’ wooden pallets have been adopted by manufacturing and distribution industries for its operations due to its strength and ease in mobility. However, major players around the globe are focusing on adopting other solutions such as corrugated pallets which are not only environment friendly but also decease the cost of operations. The corrugated packaging industry has expanded around the globe due to the increase in e-commerce platform.
Among different technologies used in the formation of corrugated sheets, the honeycomb corrugation is relatively newer and undiscovered. The honeycomb corrugated sheets provide a reliable solution for goods packaging due its strength as compared to other packaging material. Honeycomb corrugation technology is used in the formation of paper pallets which allows it to have greater load bearing capacity and lighter weight as compared to other conventional pallets. These honeycomb paper pallets are not used in Pakistan as yet because the wooden, plastic and metal pallets are prevalent in the manufacturing and distribution industries.
Our client Sinofeng Pvt. Ltd., who has been providing cost effective solutions to different industries around the country, has shown great interest in establishing the honeycomb corrugated packaging industry in Pakistan. In order to get aware of the market demand of corrugated pallets it is necessary to conduct marketing feasibility along with technical and financial so that we could understand the dynamics in which our product could be consumed by manufacturing and distribution industries. This would allow us to understand whether the product should be manufactured in Pakistan or it should be sourced from other countries and distribute here. This would pave our way to attract different companies to make our product part of their supply chain. Since logistics and distribution is an integral part of any company and pallets are the most common material handling solution therefore the anticipated market that could be captured through corrugated pallets is huge.
