Abstract / Description

In this chapter, we initially introduce the concept of Al-Ihsan and describe what it means and why it is important, particularly for professionals working in the filed of Islamic Finance by leveraging predominantly the Hadith corpus. The relationship of Al-Ihsan with Islamic ethics will also be highlighted. In particular, in Section 2, we we will motivate the need for incorporating Ihsan and describe the benefits it can bring to Muslim professionals; in Section 3, we will describe the seven ways someone can become a person of Ihsan (Al-Muhsin). We discuss thereafter in Section 4 how the concepts we discuss are relevant in the context of modern society and what value the Islamic concept of Ihsan can bring to the modern ethical pratice and discourse. Finally, the chapter is concluded in Section 5.
