Abstract
With the advances in global manufacturing, transformation of old systems via innovative, machine-led technologies has come at the forefront of the discussions. On one hand, big data analytics (BDA) has made major strides in analytical and predictive capability and converting raw sensing data into information. On the other hand, cyber-physical systems (CPS) such as Digital Twin has become the core backbone for the emerging Fourth Industrial Revolution also known as Industry 4.0. In this paper, we discuss these concepts, their challenges, their similarities and finally propose a convergence of both technologies to be utilized in modem manufacturing systems.
