Abstract
Biometric system is one of the significant applications of today's society. It is used in almost every organization for identification, searching, and mostly for attendance systems. There are many ways to identify a person's identity, Such as fingerprint, iris, Facial, vein pattern geometrical shapes of the body, etc. However, every feature has its limitation and pros & cons; therefore, the practitioners come up with a solution to use two functions as a multimodal system. These types of the system rely on any two features, which make accuracy and robustness of the system quite remarkable.
The major advantages of using two features are that it makes false detection quite impossible and resolve issues that happen in a single feature such as non-recognizable fingerprints. So in these cases, a system consist of these features are quite efficient. Therefore, we have decided to propose a dual model system, which consists of two features: 1) Fingerprint 2) Finger vein.
One of the most used biometric features is fingerprint-based however; security concern is quite high in this feature. That is why we have decided to choose a more secure and latest model of biometrics system, Finger vein. Every person even identical twins have different finger vein pattern so we can easily recognize a personal identity through that. Compare to fingerprint its more suitable way because prints can be affected more easily.
However, in this research survey, we have done separate research on the current methodology used for finger vein recognition. Also, we conducted a study on dual-modal based biometric systems related to our system and suggested a new architecture of a multimodal biometric system based on separate sensing of finger vein and fingerprint.
