In-memory processing is an evolving technology that is rapidly gaining a lot of traction by enabling businesses to gain real-time insights of data. It is being utilized in some critical areas like fraud detection, crisis management, financial trading, marketing campaigns, health care etc. Today, there are some very promising in-memory data processing systems out there in the market but as the rate of data generation continues to grow, it brings some inherent challenges so this is still an active area of research.
This survey aims to give a careful survey of current standings of in-memory data management and processing space, it discusses all the major in-memory data processing frameworks, it also discusses the shortcomings of existing out-of-the-box frameworks and enhancements that were proposed to overcome those deficiencies.
