Abstract

Opinion Mining has gained popularity due to exponential increase in the amount of content generated by user. With platforms of Web 2.0 such as social media, blogs, wikis, forums etc. People not only read the available information on web, but also provide their comments, reviews and notes on the subject. These are collectively called as opinion. These opinions can be used to extract meaningful insights and make informed decisions. However, analyzing and evaluating these opinions is a laborious task and thus automated systems to perform sentiment analysis are needed. This report aims to study methods and techniques used to perform different types of opinion mining. It also presents comprehensive literature review of most popular researches performed in this field. Moreover, challenges and future of opinion mining have also been discussed.
