Abstract
This paper analyses existing scholarship on the concept of nostalgia, and explores the limitations in the available definitions. The paper, thus, evaluates the methodological and definitional gaps in psychological and historical approaches to nostalgia. Finally, it attempts to provide a blueprint for a reconceptualization of nostalgia using Gestalt theory.
