Abstract

The research project aims to scan the factors contributing to life satisfaction and happiness among graduate and undergraduate students (from both public and private sector institutes) of Pakistan. The total sample consists of 564 individuals from all provinces of Pakistan, a variety of socio-demographic and economic determinants were analyzed using a self-reported questionnaire. Estimation has been done using OLS regression. The research concludes that there is no significant difference between the happiness score across gender, however happiness score differs significantly across age groups, provinces, and income groups. In addition, being satisfied with family’s economic situation, having an active social life, and better expected scenarios / outcomes of the current field of study are positive covariates of a student’s happiness and life satisfaction. Health related problems and dwelling on past memories pose a negative correlation.
