Abstract
Empirical studies on the relationship between corporate social performance and corporate financial performance have been ongoing for years. In Pakistan, this movement is only a few years old. This study utilizes the panel data of 84randomly listed companies of the Karachi Stock Exchange. The period included under this study is 2010 and 2011. The study aims to investigate the relationship between Corporate Social Performance and Corporate Financial Performance. Results confirm that there is a positive association between the main Corporate Social Performance variable (total CSP) and all Corporate Financial Performance variables (ROE, Tobin’s Q & ROA) in the listed companies of Pakistan. However, singular measures of employee responsibility (EMRP) and government responsibility (GORP) have shown to have a negative association with ROA & ROE, ROA respectively.
