Abstract

Argument Mining or Argumentation Mining is a growing NLP research area that aims to identify and extract arguments and their relationship with each other from a given piece of text. For now, the final goal of Argument Mining can be defined as the development of a keyword based search engine that retrieves arguments from any source regardless of topic and domain. This research survey aims to compile the recent advances in AM particularly the work published in the previous year. The paper highlights the surge in the use of contextualized word embeddings in AM and the use of datasets that collect sentences from multiple sources to simulate the out-of-domain argument classification problem.
