Abstract

The last mile delivery operations in the e-commerce industry pose a significant challenge of efficiently routing thousands of daily orders from warehouses to customers. This project focuses on developing an in-house software solution to create optimal routes for deliveries, addressing the need for cost savings, time efficiency, and data privacy. The objective of this project is to design and implement a microservice using opensource tools such as Google OR-Tools and OpenStreetMaps to solve the NP-hard problem of Vehicle Routing. The microservice leverages these tools to generate optimal routes considering constraints such as distance, time, and vehicle capacity. By developing an in-house routing solution, Bazaar Technologies aims to reduce costs, improve time efficiency, and enhance control over sensitive data. This project serves as a proof-of-concept for the viability of the solution, showcasing the potential of using open-source tools and technologies to tackle the complex challenges of last mile delivery operations in the e-commerce industry.
