Abstract

Big data analytics is constantly bringing radical changes in the domain of supply chain management with its application and strategies. The research on big data analytics has been in continuous development ever since its inception. However, very few SLRs have attempted to synthesize the research, and no research article was found to be extensive enough to create a detailed understanding about the research and emerging themes within big data analytics domain. Therefore, to fill this gap, we critically discuss the literature development in this area by conducting a systematic literature review of 100 research articles since 2014 with methodological rigor and thematic analysis. Results highlight that the average rigor score for studies was 8 out of 19, helping us to conclude that rigorous research is yet to be done. Next, we highlighted the prominent themes in literature, which summarizes big data analytics applications, domains, and its advancements in manufacturing sector as main highlights of the themes. Further, big data analytics adoption is increasing in the manufacturing sector of the developed world but developing countries and service sector is still way behind. The astounding insights from this research will be used by various managers and academicians to make data-based decisions to further the big data applications and its advancements and help future researchers to investigate adoption of big data analytics with respect to developing countries and service sector.
