Abstract / Summary
Pakitex Boards (Pvt.) Ltd. has been planning on expanding their business operations, for which they require a restructure and design of their organization. We began this restructure by initially understanding the different roles and responsibilities that are assigned to the plant workers, along with the nature of the business, with regards to its operations and functions.
After conducting plant tours and a couple of in-depth interviews, we mapped out the organization’s organogram to give it some structure on paper, and then digitized employee records to reflect the hierarchy that had been established through the designing of the organograms. Following through with the organogram and the data gathered from the digitization of employee records, we conducted some secondary research to identify what theories and concepts were applicable to this context, so we would be able to implement best practices at Pakitex Boards.
As a result, we were able to design a pay grade system for the organization, using the Hay Points System, in order to bring about consistency in their compensation strategy, along with an orientation/onboarding week that would create organizational bonding and culture at Pakitex Boards.
Our recommendations are based on what little knowledge and experience we have gathered over the years, however, for successful implementation of these ideas, the organization needs to bring aboard a certified HR consultant, who will be able to streamline this plan as per industry standards.
