Executive Summary
Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPAs) is the contract between Power Producer (Seller/developers) and consumer (energy buyers) to purchase electricity with fixed cost and duration. We shall be discussing the terms outlined in the sale of solar energy generated by the system installed and in pipeline by K-Solar Pvt. Limited as part of the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) model. PPA enables us to procure clean and renewable energy at a fixed price with dollar indexation (depending on the contract), reducing reliance on traditional sources of power and mitigating the risks associated with the volatile energy market. PPA provides economic benefits to the local community through low tariff electricity, job creation and tax revenue. However, there are potential issues related to the intermittency of solar power and the need for backup power sources during periods of low sunlight. And the constant technological changes in the industry. K-Solar continues to work on these, however there is cost implications and high impact on ROI specifically in PPA case. In this study the major focus on low-cost clean and green energy through Solar PPAs model to support the industries as electricity is the high cost in regular expenses. The major challenges are legal requirements, long term agreements, regular maintenance and fast technological revolution. Overall, the PPA represents a win-win situation for both parties, providing a sustainable and cost-effective source of energy while supporting the growth of the renewable energy industry. In the context of Solar Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in Pakistan, would have many challenges and multiple technological revolution that need thorough examination. The volatile energy market of Pakistan may face hurdles in smooth implementation of Solar PPAs due to regulatory bodies, financial understanding, and other institutional limitations.
