Executive Summary
The objectives of this study is to make business out of waste through an organized process. To determine the capacity of local councils in performing their functions. To inspect the behavior of people whether they are joining hands with institution in managing solid waste or obstruct their initiatives. In the last to examine the conditions of hospitals in regulating their waste. In the secondary research, Sadia Tariq in 2017, Yeny Dhokhikah in 2015, Schintzer in 2009, Chenyu Lu in 2015, Samadder 2014, Hao Yu in 2015, Vantura in 2015, Muhammad Azmal in 2014 and Yoshida in 2012 have conducted the studies on different elements of Solid Waste Management (SWM). The main goal was to change the behavior of people by encouraging the community participation in reducing the amount of solid waste generated as well as improving the management of solid waste. Furthermore, a bi-objective dynamic linear programming model is developed for decision making and supporting in the long-term operations of municipal solid waste management system. It focuses on the optimal balances between the economic efficiency and environmental pollution. Additionally, the studies dealt with an approach for monitoring and smart planning of urban solid waste management system by using smart M-3 platform. The smart M-3 platform offers higher degree of decoupling and scalability. Waste collection method is made by real-time monitoring the level of bin's fullness through sensors placed inside each bin. This method enables to exempt from collecting semi-empty bins.
The current research is based upon examining the conditions of solid waste management in local areas as well as the functions and performance of the concerned municipalities. Research methodology in this research will employ positivism philosophy and used qualitative technique to carry out this research. The researcher will approach to general public for examining their level of awareness about solid waste and their readiness to improving the solid waste management in the province. Amongst the range of data collection techniques, the selected approach is survey questionnaire, as it will be convenient to get filled through emails. Not only it will save time but also offer large sample size for this study. This research consists of three sections. Section one comprises of a detailed questionnaire to examine the behavior of people towards improving the solid waste management system in the province. Considering the excretion of hazardous waste and chemicals from hospitals, section two of the study was based on constructed interviews. These interviews were taken from the house keeping managers of reputable hospitals in the province.
