The purpose of this thesis is to explain fundamentals and evolution of the Islamic Financial Certificate: Sukuk. The thesis begins by explaining different structures in Sukuk, the focus then shifts towards application and issuance of these certificates.
Sovereign issues by governments and the methodology of corporations remain the central point of the thesis.
The paper concludes by highlighting growth trends witnessed by the Sukuk industry in the last decade and the challenges which need to be overcome to ensure its success in competing with the current conventional financial system.
