Executive Summary
Lotte Chemical Pakistan Limited (LCPL) has been going through financial distress for the last couple of years. And the situation is not new as similar phases have struck the business frequents In the 15 years of its existence. The company is vulnerable to weak gross margins and impaired profitability due to criticality in the PTA market. In the current situations, the margin o PTA over feedstock Paraxylene is below breakeven which is forcing many regional players to operate at very low operating rates to avoid losses, In already uncertain and volatile business environment, the situation is further aggravated for producers who have to many import the feedstock and other key inputs. In LCPL's case, the import of Paraxylene accounts for more than 85% of the total cost of production.
