Executive Summary
In this project study, an effort has been made to examine the socio-economic factors which affect the recruitment and selection process of Pakistan Army. It’s a well-known fact that no outfit can nourish without efficient management of all resources available at its disposal. Out of all, human resource assumes pivotal importance in defining the position of any organization in tangible terms. Achievement of all stipulated organization goals and strategic objectives depends upon effectiveness of its human resources. Qualitative and quantitative advancement in human resource remains contingent upon intertwined factors of demand and supply. In order to ensure organizational progress, it is ideal to carryout systematic checks at intermittent points for balancing the demand and supply factors while ensuring the quality of induction. On the other hand. Army's demand and supply also cannot be correlated with the demand and supply of the other Services (Pakistan Air Force & Pakistan Navy) owing to quantum of induction. Relevant material and previous studies show that even though Pakistan Army follows a well described recruitment strategy and elaborate selection procedures, but believed that few improvements are still needed. The research is based on typical environmental factors related to and feasible lor Pakistani society, 'fherefore, the study remained confined to Pakistan Army only as comparison could not be drawn with other armies (worldwide) due to unalike environmental backgrounds. Keeping this in view, a qualitative research is carried out and all possible Sectors present in Pakistani society are analyzed with help of a questionnaire to officials involved in recruitment and personnel already selected Army soldiers. On this information, then inferences drawn and findings made through a qualitative and statistical scrutiny before reaching the recommendations to make the recruitment process a cost-effective and lasting for Pakistan Army.
