Executive Summary
Purpose: To improve the quality of care of burn patients.
Problem statement: What is the level of satisfaction of patients in burn unit?
Objective: To assess the level of satisfaction of postburn patients.
Methodology: It was a Cross sectional-study. Data was collected from 25 patients discharged after treatment from Burn Center of Dr Ruth K.M.P fau unit Civil hospital, Karachi. The Data was collected via the questionnaire PS-RESKVA questionnaire in 3 months. After providing the consent, a questionnaire was filled either by the physician, trained staff. Data analysis was conducted on Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).
Findings: Most of the patients were satisfied with the treatment, treating doctor nursing staff and safety of the center, only one female (14.3%) was less satisfied.
Discussion: The high level of satisfaction of patients is related to male gender, effective communication of doctor and staff, effective pain management and less duration of stay. Other studies were also had same and opposite results. The major limitation of my study is small sample size and no further follow ups.
Recommendation: To study the satisfaction level of patients with large sample size including both genders, along with the assessment of psychological impact of burn and regular follow up assessment. Staff and nursing care should be improved by enhancing their communication skills, through training program and staff employees and nurses learn to be sensitive to patients' needs.
