Technical Papers Parallel Session-I: Google image suggestions, extension for unfamiliar terminologies
Abstract/Description
Visual image learning eases the recognition process of objects and results in being more beneficial rather than a textual explanation of a word. Currently no such browser extension exist where images provide additional information for unfamiliar words. This paper focuses on providing feasibility to users in understanding unfamiliar terminologies from different domains i.e. medical, engineering, art, literature, and etc., by revealing a set of images pertaining to the term selected; without opening an additional Google Chrome browser tab. While taking notes online, user can click/highlight an unfamiliar term and a set of relevant images related to it will appear in a bubble/pop-up box. Each image is a part of hover reveal contextual tool; can be further clicked for more information. Moreover, this paper focuses on the implementation and practicality of Google Image Suggestions (GIS) extension by calculating the usability metric along with the user preference of using GIS.
