Abstract
Padel is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide, and its popularity in Pakistan, especially in Karachi, continues to rise with new courts being built regularly. Despite this growth, booking a court remains inefficient, with players relying on scattered WhatsApp groups and having no central view of availability or pricing. Finding a competitive game is just as frustrating, as players struggle to find opponents at their skill level while dealing with buried messages, unreliable self-proclaimed skill levels, and coordination that falls apart over texts. Padel Pro facilitates this growing community through a centralized web platform where players and club owners can create accounts Owners add their courts, and players directly book timeslots from their PCs, easily comparing options and confirming bookings without back-and-forth. The platform's main draw is skill-based matchmaking, which incorporates player ratings and reviews from past opponents to create a much more consistent and streamlined competitive environment. Padel Pro also features an integrated marketplace for buying and selling equipment, c community hub for discussions, and a chatbot for FAQs, turning the disorganization of WhatsApp into an easy to navigate, competitive ecosystem where everything padel related exists in one place.
Tools and Technologies Used
React.js & JavaScript: The main programming language and framework used to build the interactive web pages, buttons, and user interfaces. Tailwind Css: The design tool used to style the application and make it look clean, modern, and mobile friendly. Firebase: our "behind the scenes" engine. It handles user logins safely (Authentication) and stores all your data like court bookings, player profiles, and marketplace items (Firestore Database) V\ The engine that runs behind the scenes during development to compile your code incredibly fast. Vercel: The hosting platform where your live website is currently deployed, allowing anyone to access it via your padelproapp.vercel.app link.
Methodology
The development process was carried out sequentially and component-by-component, where we worked on one large subsystem at a time and not on all at once. Firstly, we designed the wireframes for all screens and flows (bookings, matchmaking, market, and profiles) in order to create an understanding of the navigation and information architecture of the application without having to write code. Once the wireframes were finalized, we then worked on the frontend development of the screens and linking them together with dummy data in order to validate the navigation and user experience. Once we were satisfied with our frontend architecture, we finally turned our attention to the backend and implemented the microservices, databases, and API endpoints required to power the frontend screens we designed earlier.
