Abstract / Description

In 1957 Ghana became the first independent and sovereign nation in Sub-Saharan Africa. From an objective and analytical perspective, Ghana had in her rich, diverse natural resource endowment, and her relatively well trained manpower, a good potential for development. This potential has not yet been realized. Over the past decade, a combination of inappropriate policies for domestic management, a fast deteriorating external economic environment, and a rapidly growing population has brought Ghana to the brink of social and economic disintegration.
