Abstract / Description

In the last two decades theoretical and empirical evidence has offered a new insight: that broader socio-economic development including the distribution of the benefits of growth is determined by the quality of governance and institutions. Economic policies, however sound or benign they may be, cannot disperse the gains widely unless the institutions intermediating these policies are strong, efficient and effective.
