Abstract / Description
I would first of all like to thank Mr. Summers and our colleagues in PRE for giving us the opportunity to share with such a distinguished panel as yourselves our recent experiences in the World Bank's Africa Region in supporting Private Sector Development through our operations and economic and sector work, and our future plans in this area. As I will explain to you, PSD is a central focus of our work in Sub-Saharan Africa, and an area of growing importance for the future. I will divide my remarks into two parts: First, I would like to give you a brief overview of the main elements of the Region's operational strategy in support of PSD. I will then briefly highlight three areas where we are looking to do some more innovative work and would very much like to benefit from your views.
