Abstract / Description
The recent advances in Web 2.0 have significantly transformed the world into a global community by making information propagation easier. In this study, we have employed social network analysis and visualization techniques to understand the role of twitter network in propagating awareness regarding Global Issues the world is facing today. The findings revealed the distinct role of twitters users such as broadcasters and influencers. We also identified topics discussed using hashtags of a related social cause. An interactive visualization is also developed to assess the popularity of social causes across the world.
