Description
The article reviews Pakistan's economic growth and trade liberalisation reforms over the preceding decade, noting reduced tariffs, eliminated quantitative restrictions and improved export performance. It draws five lessons from Pakistan's reform experience, including the importance of political stability, effective communication, inter-agency coordination, adaptable policy objectives, and institution building at provincial and local levels. The author also discusses prospects for greater regional trade integration with India and South Asia.
