Several commentetcrs have critiqued the recent move of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to raise tile minimum capital requirements of the banks by 2009. They believe that this move is unfair as it would lead to the survival of big banks and eliminaIion of small banks and also result in the exit of the foreign banks from the scene.
