Mr. Sultan Ahmed has contributed two articles, "Rising Income, Falling Savings and the Social Imbalance",- and "Is Pakistan an Undertaxed Country?" in the recent issues of Dawn (April 22 and April 29, 1982). While such debate on economic issues like these is most welcome and healthy, it should be based on sound conceptual and analytical underpinnings. Inter-Dapretation of economic facts and concepts in a non-professional manner has the danger of giving rise to not only incorrect policy conclusions but also marring the efficacy of such debates.
