Pakistan’s political history is marked by instability, repeated military interventions, and weak democratic institutions. From the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan to successive coups and authoritarian regimes, political processes have been undermined by establishment control and dynastic politics. Civil-military tensions, lack of intra-party democracy, and rivalry among major parties have deepened distrust in the system. The mixing of religion and politics has further polarized society, while international isolation and economic stagnation are linked to persistent political turmoil. The authors argue that only continuity of democracy, accountability through parliament, and inclusive political institutions can ensure stability and economic growth.
