Abstract
My vision is that by 2015 Pakistan should be a prosperous, modern and progressive nation where poverty is reduced from one third to one sixth of the population, every adult Pakistani is literate, all young boys and girls attend school, drinking water and sanitation facilities are available to a vast majority of the population and quality health care. I envisage that in a decade from now Pakistan will not only be producing sufficient basic foodstuff for domestic consumption but also exporting surpluses to other parts of the world. Fibre, livestock and horticulture will become new sources of cash income to the rural population. The composition of our industry and exports will shift from predominantly low-tech to medium-tech products.
