Abstract

Blurring in images caused by movement of camera or object poses problems for many systems and industries today, especially with the advancement in Artificial Intelligence technology which is being used heavily and to great effect in automation, surveillance, and monitoring systems. Therefore, restoration of motion-blurred images is a much-researched topic in the field of Image Processing and Computer Vision. As the blurring effect is a result of a random process with other environmental variables at play as well, an ideal solution is not possible. Several techniques have been invented to recover the image as accurately and efficiently as possible, with maximum sharpness and minimum loss of data. This survey discusses different solutions to this problem that have been proposed over the years.
