Abstract

Main memory databases store all or part of the data in memory and subsequently reduce or eliminate disk access. This paper presents an architectural study of memory databases with respect to cost/performance trade-offs and practical applicability issues. In-memory data analytics is an effective means of achieving high performance data processing and realizing the value of data in a timely manner. Efforts in this direction have been spent on various aspects, including in-memory algorithmic designs and system optimizations. This survey paper, we have reviewed different perspectives, features and benefits of using in-memory analytics.
