Abstract / Summary

We are living in the world of automation in which everything is just a touch away. We are witnessing an era of major technological innovations. These innovations are helping businesses to grow. Along with the businesses, individuals’ lives are also being transformed, loT and BIG Data are two important technologies in that list, making huge impacts globally. Data is the most valuable asset of this era if analyzed. In this survey, we have shed some light on what is loT and Big Data, what are their related technologies, how they are related and why we have chosen to study how Big Data can help loT Analytics. Also, we have surveyed architecturesinfrastructures being proposed or used in the context of the two technologies in different domains such as agriculture, health, finance, government, retail, weather, etc. In addition to this, the paper has given the overview of some commercial loT Platforms being offered by tech giants for instance Microsoft, Google, IBM, and Oracle. In the end, it provides a generalized high-level architecture for any loT based system.
