Abstract / Summary
The idea of this survey is to explore the challenges and intricacies of Relational and Non-Relational Databases for Internet of Things (IoT). This paper highlights different types of data including radio frequency identification, addressesunique Identifiers, descriptive data, sensor data, historical data, etc. Management of massive data produced by sensors in IoT will be lucrative. However, several management challenges can be faced for example volume, range, indexing, query languages, process modelling, heterogeneity, amalgamation, time-series aggregation, archiving and security of data. This survey highlights pros and cons of SQL and NoSQL databases. NoSQL took nearly a decade to gain market confidence after which companies started researching and investing into distributed databases. The best database for IoT will be the one whose insertion rate is highest as IoT is flooded with sensors and these sensors produce time series data i.e. data in intervals. Furthermore, database management systems for relational data are in abundance likewise, this paper at last proposed a management system for non-relational data models.
