Executive Summary

The Project Proposal for Entrepreneurship Resource Centre for Women at Vocational Training Institute for Women, Buffer zone, Karachi is the course requirement for my Executive MBA at IBA, Karachi.

This type of facility 1 had witnessed and it had captivated in my mind while I was on training in developed countries like Canada and Japan. Working towards this project has given me chance to pursue my dream and it is hoped that this shall be materialized in near future.

Entrepreneurship among women continues to expand at a fast pace - women owned businesses have opened at twice the rate of those owned by men. The idea behind the proposal for Entrepreneurship Resource Centre for Women (ECRW) is to extend the role of VTIW by offering support, training, counselling and resources for potential businesses and start-ups with a unique, hands-on approach for the graduates as well as women of the community.

It is envisioned that the women will no longer have to depend on the limited jobs available. Rather, they will look at entrepreneurship as a viable option to make living and uplift their status economically. The staff and facilities of ECRW shall hold high interest in business successes and will get involved and stay involved until the graduates have all the resources needed to accomplish their goals.

ECRW shall offer programs to support the diverse needs of small business and shall give access information on programs related to technical, financial, contracting, education and disaster assistance, as well as special interests, advocacy and civil rights compliance.

ECRW shall create a culture of enterprising women, determined to uplift their quality of life and their families thus becoming job providers rather job seekers
